If you’re looking at a receipt and wondering why Turo discounted your rate—you’re not alone. Turo recently overhauled its discount structure, and by default, many hosts have been opted in to discounts unless they proactively turn them off. And if you didn’t know where to look—don’t feel bad. This post will walk you through why these discounts happen, how they affect your earnings, and how to take control of your pricing.
What are the different Turo Discounts?
Turo has four options for discounts - Daily trip discount, weekly trip discount, monthly trip discount, and non-refundable discounts.
Daily Trip Discounts
Applied to trips that are 3-6 days in length
Can be set from 0% to 75%.
Weekly Trip Discounts
You may be able to apply different percentages to 1-week, 2-week, and 3-week trips depending on your settings. If not, the weekly discount will apply to all trips 7+ days by default.
Can be set from 0% to 75%.
Monthly Trip Discounts
Applied to trips that are 30 days or longer.
Can be set from 0% to 75%.
Non-Refundable Trip Discounts
If enabled, this gives the guest the option at checkout to book the trip as non-refundable for a cheaper rate.
If enabled, you can choose from 10% or 15% off.
How Are Discounts Calculated?
Discounts are applied after your trip rate, but before your host protection fee is calculated.
That means:
A guest books at a lower rate
You pay your deductible % cut from that discounted rate
You walk away with even less than expected
If you’re pricing based on depreciation, mileage limits, or long-term ROI—this can eat into your margins fast.
How to Turn Manage Turo’s Automatic Discounts
Here’s how to manage these discounts:
On Desktop:
Log in to Turo.com
Click on your profile photo > Vehicles
Select the vehicle you want to adjust
Go to Pricing & Discounts
Scroll to the Discounts section
Click Edit or toggle each discount off:
Daily trip discount (0–75%)
Weekly trip discount (0–75%)
Monthly trip discount (0–75%)
Non-refundable discount (None, 10%, or 15%)
Note: If you’re using automatic (dynamic) pricing, some discounts may be locked in unless you turn that feature off.
On Mobile App:
Open the Turo app
Tap the “Host” tab
Tap “Vehicles”
Select your car
Tap “Pricing & Discounts”
Scroll to Discounts
Tap to edit or disable each one
If you’re seeing unexpected discounts—it’s almost always because you haven’t reviewed your settings. Turo doesn’t intentionally undercut you. But the platform prioritizes guest bookings, not your margins. And unless you take control, these discounts will quietly chip away at your profit.
Review your pricing, disable what doesn’t serve your goals and stop leaving money on the table.
If You Want Full Control - Turn Off Dynamic Pricing
If you're serious about managing your own rates:
Go to the Pricing > Dynamic Pricing tab
Toggle it off to set and maintain custom rates with no fluctuation
This also allows you to control discounts, trip minimums, and trip lengths more precisely. You can read more about Turo's Dynamic Pricing here.
